The workshops lasted one semester. Participants worked on the basis of scenes from contemporary plays. Their task was to work on the role, to work in the stage space, and to work with a partner. I tried to transform their acting into actually being in the situation portrayed. While on stage, they tried to respond to stimuli and upcoming events in an authentic way.
What the scenes had in common was the fact that all the characters either escaped into the world of fantasy or felt compelled to repeat certain events from their lives, as if they wanted to fix something that had gone wrong way before and improve it at all costs. Unfortunately, they sooner or later fell back into the same old ruts, and there was no escape from bad habits and broken dreams. Some scenes were funny, others were sad, but all of them were true and inspired reflection on one’s own life.
