The Anthropocene is over. A new era has begun.

The year is 2073. After the third pandemic, there are only tens of millions of people left in the world. Global warming has made water scarce. Poland resembles a desert, with scorpions, meerkats, and oryx on the roads. Frightened people have grouped themselves into small communities and live on the banks of drying rivers, hiding in houses turned into strongholds or in abandoned cities, looting the apartments of their near and distant neighbours. Only organized and armed groups of criminals bravely roam the world.

Dandelia, Witosz, and Namir are heading south. Where exactly? Each of them would give a different answer to this question. Witosz and Namir want to meet Radost, a doctor Dandelia used to work with. They were virologists working on a vaccine. They didn’t make it.

Dandelia is convinced that there is a dam somewhere in the south and that water will flow through the dry riverbeds again if they destroy it. However, Dandelia has huge memory problems; she gets everything wrong and often even forgets who her traveling companions are.

Will they achieve their goals? On the sun-scorched earth, how is one to distinguish who is really an enemy and who is a friend?

Virga is a six-episode audio series based on a script by Martyna Butrym, with music by Grzegorz Łapiński.
