The view from my balcony, The Documentary and Feature Film Studios

The View from My Balcony is a film adaptation of Monika Siara’s drama produced by the Documentary and Feature Film Studio in Warsaw. The protagonist, Monika, peeks at her neighbours from her balcony. Her neighbour is expected return from prison in 60 days. He has spent 7 years there. His father, mother, and sister are preparing the house for his return: are decorating his room, renovating the kitchen, and shopping. All these activities are only intended to hide the fear of what their life will look like when he returns.

One of the most important issues in this play is forgiveness. Will the family believe his innocence? Will his relatives be able to give him a second chance? What obligations do family members have towards one another?

The performance was awarded for direction at TeatrotekaFest 2019 and recognized as the most interesting directing debut of the season in the theatre magazine Teatr9/2019.
