The Last Letter, I. Rusek, Polish Radio

The Last Letter is a radio play for children,  written by Iwona Rusek and produced for the Polish Radio as part of the”Closer to History” series.

Grandchildren learn that their grandfather was a scout and distributed letters during the Warsaw Uprising. He failed to deliver one letter because he was wounded. Grandpa still has this letter and remembers the mission he did not complete. The grandchildren use the Internet to find the addressee of the letter, now an old woman, and they deliver the letter to her. The woman’s reaction defies all description: she is very grateful and stronglymoved, because her brother was killed during the Uprising and this was his last letter.

In this way, the bond between the generations is strengthened: the children can understand their grandfather’s teenage experience, and the grandfather finds out that social networking and modern media can be useful.
