In July 2019, I was invited to participate in the “New Epiphanies” Lab, co-organized by the Dramatic Theatre of the Capital City of Warsaw and held as part of the “New Epiphanies” Festival. Ten creative teams stayed off grid and worked during a one-week playwriting workshop. The main topic of the workshop was the life of Mary Magdalene and related issues, such as women in the church or the history of sin. Each team included a director, a playwright, and three actors. Each day had a schedule: In the morning, outstanding specialists in the humanities gave their lectures; in the afternoon, the groups worked on the current topic; in the evenings, etudes, scenes, and improvisations on the topic were presented. I invited playwright Monika Siara and three actresses: Alina Chechelska, Agata Sasinowska, and MałgorzataWojciechowska to work together on this project. The result of our team’s work was a drama that was later written by Monika Siara–Women, the Great Sinners. To read more about this drama, seethe Stage Reading section.
