M. The story you do NOT want to know – M. Siara, THE DRAMATIC THEATRE OF THE CAPITAL CITY OF WARSAW

Maria Wisnowska, an actress living and working in the nineteenth century in Warsaw, led a crazy, intense life, which ended in an atmosphere of scandal when she was shot by her lover in a hotel room at the age of 30. Maria was a liberated woman. Men loved her, and she had many love affairs. Maria’s story has many secrets and provokes questions about what “love” was for her, whether she could love at all, and whether she loved all her men or, on the contrary, did not love any of them. Another important question that arises after reading the drama is: who would Maria be today? If she can be considered a nineteenth-century celebrity, would she be more like the sad Lana or like the crazy Amy today? What was important to me in the interpretation of this drama, in addition to questions about the nature of love, was the artist’s problem and dedication to art as a way of life. It seems to me that Maria made a very conscious decision about her career and very consciously created her image, using scandal as a marketing strategy. I hope that I will be able to continue working on this topic, because Maria is a strong and fascinating female character.
